MTV recently asked Mike Tyson about his thoughts surrounding the Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic violence case. We all know Mike’s had the same turmoil early in his career and is ideally the perfect person to ask this type of question. Mike responded very consistently with how he handled his own accusations in the past, I really believe Mike’s opinion and find him to be an extremely smart guy despite how media depicts him.
Mike also gave a stern reprimand to men who hurt women. “You can’t abuse them. It’s really sick what you [can] do. She has a space in your heart and you believe you care about her more than anybody in the world. Do I think it’s right to beat up a woman? No — hell no. Have I hit a woman before? Hell yeah. Was I wrong? Hell yeah. I’m a product of that environment. Do I regret ever doing that? Hell yeah. Would I do it again? Never.”
the nugget “I know how to handle my emotions’; we all think we do”
This is something that is as true as the sun is hot. You’ll never know how you’ll react in a situation until its at your doorstep banging.
I’m not condoning any type of domestic violence in any way but I do take into consideration that we are all human. with separate individual/unpredictable emotions.

True team unity.
While LeBron James was still in high school, ‘Sports Illustrated’ anointed him “The Chosen One,” and scrutiny of the St. Vincent-St. Mary team increased exponentially. But only Belman’s cameras were able to capture what took place between friends in the locker room and outside the game.
‘More Than a Game’ shows how bonds are formed and tested. Belman makes each player as distinct and significant as the celebrity-to-be who plays among them. Coach Dru did a stint in the corporate world before finding meaning mentoring youths and shaping them into a remarkable team. His son, Little Dru, overcame the limitations of his short stature to become an accomplished player. Rounding out the “Fab Four” are Sian, a stocky athlete who also played football; and Willie, whose harsh life experiences have forced him to grow up fast. They became the “Fab Five” with the addition of Romeo Travis, who joined the clique later and had to prove himself.
And, of course, there was James.

Hello Hip hoppers, my spacers, facebookers & tweeters
I’m happy to announce that Royce is currently working on the Bar Exam 3. If you’ve had the opportunity to listen to both 1 & 2 you have to be a believer. I’m not a huge fan of “2 Dope” but eitherway I’m crazy excited for some new stuff from Royce. Using a previously underutilized Budden beat , I feel his flow approaches it just right. I’m still not sure how I feel about Royce’s cousin Kid Vishis, maybe he’s just not for me.
I’m excited to find out who’s going to be the DJ for the album. Big shoes to fill from the previous BE’s (Premier & Green Lantern)
Check the track out, I’d love to hear what you think.
(some advice: If you hate the track, don’t let it stop you from buying/downloading BE 1&2. This track barley breaks the clutter for me personally in comparison.)

Eminem’s getting closer and closer to that monumental day. The release of King Mathers/The Relapse or whatever.
I’m excited…with a grain of salt. I’d say I’m just waiting to listen and then pass judgement. I’m hoping that he’ll keep my head nodding for years to come but more recently when it comes to Eminem and Dre. “You made me yack”
The covers looking pretty sick. A mosaic of prescription pills, I’m feeling it.
Reminds me of the CD/Booklet Art from The Slim Shady LP.
Perhaps it’s for a reason, perhaps not.
The label is an awesome touch, prescribed by Dr. Dre.
I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that I’m really hoping Eminem doesn’t let me down again.
What do you guys think about it?

Lauryn Hill is coming out of hiding to perform a 10-date European tour this July. According to reports Hill will headline the 5-day Stockholm Jazz festival in Sweden which is expected to bring in close to 30,000 fans. Lauryn Hill is also listed as one of the 1,000 artists (including the Black Eyed Peas, Herbie Handcock and BB King) that are included in this years Montreux Jazz Fest in Switzerland on July 11th at the Stravinsky Auditorium.
Hill hasn’t performed since her jam packed show in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn back in August of 2007 although it drew criticism from the crowd after she showed up hours late and forgot song lyrics, but can you blame her? She never performs and never records any new music.

Mike Tyson’s life is a true rise and fall.
Heavyweight champion of the world at 18 years old !?
“The single scariest man to ever enter the boxing ring”
I’ve been following Mike’s career for sometime now and it’s so interesting to me. I really urge you to take some time and learn more about Mike. He’s a legend that has never gotten his respect.
Stay away from the message boards, stay away from the Hollywood character roles & you tube clips.
You won’t find the real Tyson there. The first time I watched Beyond the Glory I was talking about Iron Mike for weeks. Please clear some time from your schedule and check it out.
Whether you hate to love him, or love to hate him.
It’s simply amazing.
More recently there has been rumblings of a new biopic dropping that I’m dieing to see. I just pray they let Mike have a large part of telling Mike’s life. Unlike the 2 hours I wasted watching this Hollywood money machine version.
1995- Tyson
This movie did his life ZERO justice after seeing Beyond The Glory.
Tyson 09′

A new Tyson Documentary has been raking in awards at film festivals around the world. A Tyson movie that’s endorsed by Mike himself. God answered my prayers. Check this out, Ahhh yeah!
“Tyson is acclaimed indie director James Tobacks stylistically inventive portrait of a mesmerizing Mike Tyson. Toback allows Tyson to reveal himself without inhibition and with eloquence and a pervasive vulnerability. Through a mixture of original interviews and archival footage and photographs, a startlingly complex, fully-rounded human being emerges. The film ranges from Tysons earliest memories of growing up on the mean streets of Brooklyn through his entry into the world of boxing, to his rollercoaster ride in the funhouse of worldwide fame and fortunes won and lost. It is the story of a legendary and uniquely controversial international athletic icon, a figure conjuring radical questions of race and class. In its depiction of a man rising from the most debased circumstances to unlimited heights, destroyed by his own hubris, TYSON emerges as a modern day version of classic Greek tragedy.”
Couldn’t have said it any better.
Movie drops April, 24th 2009- you should go and see it.
Nas- Legendary
Track about Mike Tyson, Nas knows the deal. Amazing track and remastered to the 10th degree compared to The Nigger Tape’s version.
Never see another like him.

Working at Fjord Interactive I’m privileged to work with some amazing art directors and writers everyday.
One of my favorites is Phillip Garwood. He is an amazing artist and has recently started putting up some of his creations.

I’m currently a writing intern for Cossette Communications more specifically under Fjord Interactive.
Last friday our office manager put the screws to us for the annual clean-up of all office space.
She offered a monday off to the team that was the most clean.
The Creative team did exactly what a creative team would do and that’s focus more on a awesome way to show that we cleaned then actually use the ol’ elbow grease.
Although Cossette Media got the Monday off, I’m still convinced they would never let the creatives take a day off anyways.

The internets been going crazy over this.
Not sure how I feel quite yet. For the most part I love everything Clipse does but I’m not 100% sold on this one.
Would love to hear what you think about it.
I don’t know how to put this but I’m kind of a big deal…. I want to be on you….

Mcdonald’s wants you to give them a chance to start fresh.
I think you should take it.
I told my father about the promotional offer and he laughed saying that he wouldn’t try their coffee if it were free for life. I don’t agree with that at all, although not much can be said about a simple change of blends it’s the thought that counts.
I think as a public we should take anything FREE as often as possible. Get as many coffee’s as you can; I’m drinking mine as I type with one hand.

My personal favorite show in this crazy word. The brilliant comedy and character-to-character interaction is to be praised. This show really does set the pace for any other comedy. 4 Seasons out now with a reported 2 more to drop on FX in the future.
The show centers around the life and times of Mac, Sweet Dee, Dennis, Charlie and Frank. They own and operate the worst bar in Philadelphia but would never admit it. The shit these guys get into will have you giggling for days.
This show’s hilarious moments replay in my mind frequently. Their jokes seem to relate to everything in life someway or another.
This is a must watch show in my opinion. If you like to laugh (and who doesn’t) then check it out ASAP.
I hope to one-day punk Afran and Matthew with the same swagger and stang they showcase in every episode.

Kenny Powers was brought to this world for one reason.
To throw the ball fast as fuck.
Ex major league pitcher Kenny Powers suffers a downward spiral. Leaving him teaching a gym class in his hometown while living with his older brother. The results are truly hilarious. I was a bit skeptical going into this show but was blown away by the improv skill and hilarity involved. Although it’s only 6 episodes, this mini-series is sure to impress. I do not suggest this show to those with virgin ears, it’s great nonetheless and I find myself telling people “they’re fucking out” in my mind quite often often.

It saddens me to report that TNT’s Trust Me has been cancelled. It’s a shame because realistically I’m a huge part of the problem. Television viewer-ship has dropped significantly and I’m just another one of the millions who gets all their television from the Internet. I’ve been downloading the episodes as they dropped every week and was fairly impressed. For the most part.
Although I found the conflict dialogue to be a bit cliché and predictable at times the show really did have me waiting for more every Tuesday night.
Trust me starred Eric McCormack from Will & Grace as a successful Art Director turned Creative Director at a huge Chicago Advertising agency RGM alongside his arrogant, pretentious Copywriter partner Tom Cavanagh from ED TV.
This show gave a great insight into an advertising agencies culture and some of the turmoil that comes with that territory. Overall it was a great show with 13 episodes very worth checking out!
I trusted you and you let me down.

What is it with Rhymefest.
It seems his major tactic is to coat tail his way to success.
First with the Man in the Mirror Mixtape with Michael Jackson, all the beats and Kanye features and now this.
I’m a fan of Rhymefest but going up against BDK is suicide.
Great mix to a classic video.
Big ups to Rhymefest for paying homage the right way.

When I first heard this track I thought it was FIRE.
Being a huge fan of Nas, I was waiting to see how he would approach this feature.
Nas really stepped to the plate and knocked it out of the park.
Then I started to realize that this track lyrically is very similar to Jadakiss’s “Why”. It literally has the same bar set up.
Either way its a great track and it has been released on The Last Kiss
“What if Obama was on Mount.Rushmore, would I feel more enticed on a bus tour?”

Every artist in this powerhouse of a group has had thier own individual success and multiple albums.
It’s just ridiculous when they come together.
They have been creating a huge following of true hip-hop fans bringing it back to the lyrical content. Slaughterhouse is 4 MC’s going hard on the mic fighting for the illest verse. Its crazy the response from fans online as they all Poll in with their vote. It makes me happy when lights shined on this type of competition. Here’s thier first webisode for a taste.

I’m way too excited for Red and Meth to drop Blackout 2.
If you’ve heard the original it’s hard not to be a fan.
If you’re not excited just hearing about it here’s a little fuel for the fire.
I wish I could find the final video for “A YO” but for the meantime.

This truley did break my heart when I first saw it.
I am one among the millions who have be following Eminem’s career and have seen the rise and fall.
It baffles me that someone with so much talent and promise could open-hand slap all of his fans in the face every album.
It’s a reoccurring theme for Eminem to release an absolutely stupid single that he takes no effort to write and knows it will be played on every station around the world.
My name is/Just loose it/ ass like that/ Rainman/ Smack that
It hurts my feelings when my ipod’s shuffle lands on one of these million dollar singles.
How can that be the same Eminem that once wrote Infinite.
One of the best written hip-hop albums of all -time.

Recently booked for a DUI in a Detroit suburb was none other than Eminem’s 23 year old brother Nathan Mathers.
“Nate Kane” was wasted and forgot to yield to passing ambulances, now he’ll have to start a rap career after his short stint in prision…
Wait…. You mean he’s already started?
I gotta see this.
I’m sorry but…. what the fuck was that.
I wouldn’t wish that song on my worst enemy.
A couple questions came to mind when I saw that
How could Eminem let that happen? especially with the auto-tune!
Why wouldn’t Eminem help him with his efforts?
Does he truly believe he’s going to contend with artists out today?
To me this just seems like a prime example of what happens when someone tries their best to capitalize on a families already established success.
Slide on Over Nate. Slide on over.
